In 1861, Tintara was founded by Dr Alexander Kelly, one of the pioneers of the South Australian wine industry. Then in 1876, a young Thomas Hardy purchased Tintara as he recognised the potential that lay within the unique soils of McLaren Vale and made it his mission to create wines that were a true expression of his remarkable region. Tintara is still the home of Hardys and remains a testament to quality winemaking, combining age old methods and new technology.
